Okay so here is a pic of a nice red onion from the 6th of April. It is small. Actually most of the red onions have grown smaller than the the white ones. Not sure why. I do know that in about 2 more weeks I’ll be making a large harvest of all them onions. Might leave a few smaller ones in a bit longer.

The bottom photo is a white one that is ten times bigger than the reds. I picked it last Saturday and it lasted only minutes before being sliced and diced and put into the salad we were having with some spaghetti. I tasted a ring and it was so sweet and had a bit of kick to it. I few more weeks and they will all be harvested. I seriously need to find a scale. This one weighed roughly a pound.

Spider Pig Dance Off
Here is the Spider Pig about a week ago shakin’ her groove thing:
Baby Fruit and greens.
Look!! Its a baby nectarine. The only down side is that the wind from the storm some nights ago knocked off all of the other flowers and baby fruits and we are now left with this little guy. I pray it will last throughout the next couple months. We still have a few hail storms to make it though before Mr. Fruit will be ready. Stephanie and I BOTH had put our names on it.
We have also been harvesting lettuce like is going out of style. I seriously don’t remember having this much last year.
Oh, that’s right, I only planted half the seeds. Plus, last year it bolted pretty fast. I was happy to harvest extra a few days ago. Stephanie was having a luncheon at work and her job was to provide the lettuce for the salads. Needless to say I was able to find a couple leaves to give away. This lettuce is spectacular. Full of flavor and no pesticide.
I can’t wait until we get some tomatoes to harvest. Hopefully by then the lettuce will still be around and then I can have a salad with homegrown onions and ‘maters.
Lots to write about
Behind. So behind. Okay, so the last post was obviously a joke. I’m not sure where to pick up at. I made Presidents Club at work. That really means I was one of the top performers on the service side of the company from the 2008 year. Got a nice bonus. Bonus’ are always a nice surprise. I was originally going to buy a nice SLR camera with it but instead still plan on buy a camera, just not one as expensive. Also, we are going to install a nice watering system for the garden and perhaps some lumber so as to build an arbor/gateway into the garden.
Zoe is cutting some more teeth. She has the butt rash and crankiness to prove it. She learns something new everyday. She loves sticking her tongue out and then trying to talk, as seen to the left with her Poppy. So funny. Easter came and went. Zoe enjoyed it, I guess. I think next year will be more fun for Stephanie and I. Zoe will be able to unwrap things herself and more inquisitive. She enjoyed eating some goldfish crackers she ‘found’ inside one of the Easter eggs we put in her basket.
We have really started to give her more and more solids. Its funny when you place it in her mouth though. She kind of sits there for a moment thinking, “What am I supposed to do next?” Then she realizes that she needs to somehow chew it. Her front bottom teeth have come in nicely and she is now cutting some more. I wonder which one will come in next. I would presume some from the topside, but I can only guess.
Spring has nearly come and gone. I guess we still have a few more weeks left. The lavender out by the mailbox is still blooming and still wonderful. The bees are loving it too. I’ve been looking around the neighborhood as to where they might be staying. The bluebonnets are on their way out and rest of the wildflowers have started to bloom and more are on the way. I planted some sunflowers this year. Something about they are to get 10ft tall?
I had forgotten many elephant ear bulbs were in the ground from last year and after having gone hiking for the weekend and coming back, I was reminded that it was plethora.
Moving on.
Well Stephanie and I finally did it. We quit our jobs. Our last day will be a week from Friday. We put the house on the market a few weeks ago but didn’t want to tell anyone. We are moving to Colorado. Stephanie applied for a job at Boulder Valley SD as their graphic designer an did a few interviews via the web and phone. She’ll be making double what she is now. I have yet to find something, but things should turn up soon.
I’ll keep you updated as things move along.
